The heating element is multi-strand resistance wire, braided with AMOX™ yarn and knitted into the serpentine shape to minimize thermal shock and tensile stress from expansion and contraction. The side-by-side wire configuration permits the lead wires to be on one end. The Duo-Tape® configuration is the most popular of all our flexible elements.

The silicone encapsulates the element in a soft, (50 durometer) extrusion. Flexible and durable, the ASR tape will wrap around small ¼ in. (6mm) tubing. The Silicone Duo-Tapes® may be used on conductive surfaces (use directly on metal), and the silicone extrusion provides resistance to moisture, chemicals, and abrasion. Heat additives provide capability to 450°F (232°C).

Standard ASR tapes do not include a power plug. 120V tapes may be ordered with the optional molded plug (-MP). No power plug option is available for 240V tapes. Commercially available connectors may be installed for the customer or sourced locally. Duo-Tapes® do not utilize a grounding circuit and provide a two wire connection. For Earth Ground Leakage protection a circuit protector (30ma GFCI) is recommended.

Silicone Extruded DuoTape®

Duo-Tape Silicone Extruded Heating Tapes provide high-temperature, flexible electric elements that are insulated with silicone rubber insulation. The unique construction of this silicone heating tape offers protection for the heating element whiling allowing for plenty of bendability and flexibility.

The heating trace tape can be wrapped around just about any surface, and it can be safely used in most laboratories and industrial plants. These silicone heating tapes are available in lengths as small as 2 feet or as large as 30 feet. Customers can also choose between 1/2-inch and 1-inch widths. Capable of handling high temperatures – up to a design maximum exposure temperature of 450 degrees F (232 degrees C), Duo-Tape Silicone Extruded Heating Tapes provide long-lasting heating solutions even in situations where moisture might be present.

The silicone heating tape uses HTS/Amptek’s Duo-Tape technology, which allows both lead wires to be attached at a single end, which can then be attached to a two-pronged plug. The silicone rubber layer of our heating trace tape safeguards the heating tape elements and can provide uniform low-watt density coverage in any application, keeping heat transfer focused on the work surface. This outer layer of insulation also protects the system from moisture, harmful chemicals and abrasion.
